The University Grants Commission being the apex body of the University system in Sri Lanka is committed to regulate and facilitate the granting of funds, admission of students, maintenance of academic standards and implementation of government policy in the sphere of higher education. In executing such functions the UGC has recently strategized a realistic corporate plan together with several other new initiatives. The availability of such plans and programmes to all the stakeholders is an essential factor in achieving the desired objectives. Thus, this web site will be a portal for us to convey such information to the necessary stakeholders as well as to the general public. This would also provide an opportunity to be fully transparent in all our activities and as a fast, reliable and easy mode of communication locally or internationally.

Thus I believe all those who browse through this web site would make use of it maximally to fulfill their needs. Furthermore your comments or criticisms are welcome to further improve the efforts we are taking at present to provide better higher education opportunities to the Sri Lankans in general.
