SCHEME OF RECRUITMENT FOR THE POST OF SENIOR PROFESSOR (NON MEDICAl/MEDICAL)


The University Grants Commission at its meeting held on 7th July 1992, has decided to change the designation of the post of Professor, Grade I and Professor, Grade II as follows:-

Present Designation

New Designation

Professor, Grade I Senior Professor
Professor, Grade II Professor


The Commission also decided to amend the present Scheme of Recruitment of the post as annexed to this Circular.

The Annexed Scheme of Recruitment is effective from 1st August 1992.

Senior Professor
(Non - Medical/Medical )
B-01(a)
(1) Bv merit promotion (1) A Professor who has obtained a D.Sc. or D.Litt. or LL.D. degree or an equivalent higher doctorate from a recognised University;

OR

(2) A Professor who has published research of exceptional merit after his promotion/appointment as such. In evaluating such research, the Selection Committee shall be furnished with reports from two or more than two experts appointed from outside the Higher Educational Institution concerned by the Governing Authority on the recommendation of the Senate / Academic Syndicate.

NOTE :
Every application for a merit promotion the grade of Senior Professor shall be
accompanied by -

(i) the curriculum vitae of the applicant , and

(ii) a statement containing a self-assessment on his contribution Co-research

By normal promotion A Professor who has spent one year at the maximum of the salary scale (B-01) will be
entitled to be re-designatied as Senior Professor.
