REVISION OF SALARIES OF PHARMACISTS
The University Grants Commission, having considered recommendations made by the Registrar, University of Peradeniya and taking into consideration that the Sri Lanka Medical Council has revised qualifications required for registration as an apprentice Pharmacist (such revised qualifications are higher than the earlier qualifications) and that the Pharmacists in the University Service are recruited from among those who possess a certificate of competence as a qualified Pharmacist recognized by Sri Lanka Medical Council, approved the placement of Pharmacists at the time of recruitment at salary point of Rs.2715/- p.m. on the A-08/CA-08 salary scale. This decision is effective from 01.01.1993. (The salary conversion has been done on the basis of Commission Circular No. 579).
To avoid any anomalies occurring as a result of implementing this decision, the following re-adjustments of salaries of Pharmacists should be implemented.
(a) Any Pharmacist (Lower Grade) who had been appointed between the period from 01 st January 1990 and 31st December 1992 and who had not reached the salary point of Rs. 2715/- p.m. on 1st January 1993 should be placed at the salary point of Rs.2715/- p.m. on the A-08/CA-08 salary scale with effect from 1st Januar, 1993 and paid, in addition, one increment for each year of service completed up to 31st December, 1992 after the appointment to the post of Pharmacist (Lower Grade).
(b) Any Pharmacist (Lower Grade) who was at the salary point of Rs.2715/- p.m. on the A-08/CA-08 salary scale on 01.01.1993 should be granted 03 increments with effect from 01.01.1993.
(c) Any Pharmacist (Lower Grade) who had been appointed to that post before 1st January, 1990 and who had passed the salary point of Rs. 2715 /- p.m. on 1st January, 1993 should be placed 03 steps ahead of the salary point he received on the A- 08/CA-08 salary scale on 1st January 1993.
However, the incremental dates of pharmacists, should remain unchanged. Please take action as indicated above.
