SCHEME OF RECRUITMENT FOR THE POST OF TECHNICIAN
This Circular has been modified by Circular No : 651 | 666
The University Grants Commission at its 434th meeting held on 13th January 1995 has approved the following amendments to the scheme of recruitment for the posts of Technician.
(i) To change the designation of "Technician" to "Technical Officer".
(ii) To amend the scheme of recruitment for the post of Technician Grade II Seg "B" by the inclusion of three (03) Advanced Level passes in Science subjects for the recruitment of external candidates.
(iii) To amend the scheme of recruitment for the post of Technician Grade II, Seg "A" by changing the method of recruitment.
(iv) To reduce the period of service required for promotion to Grade I from 12 years to 10 years.
(v) To delete clause (2) of service conditions of Technicians indicated in the existing scheme of recruitment.
A copy of the amended scheme of recruitment is annexed to this Circular. This replaces the existing schemes of recruitment for the posts of Technician. The scheme of recruitment for the posts of Technical Officer of the Open University of Sri Lanka will not be operative in future.
The amendments mentioned in para 1 (i),(ii),(iii) and (v) of this circular are effective from 01st March 1995; and the amendment in para (iv) of the Circular is effective from 01st January 1992. See Annex
