SCHEME FOR TESTING THE PROFICIENCY IN TYPING BY USING COMPUTERS/ELECTRONIC/ELECTRIC TYPE WRITERS


Your kind attention is invited to the provisions in Commission Circular No.873 of 27th February, 2006 on the above subject.

2. The University Grants Commission at its meeting held on 15th June, 2006 decided that the following amendments be made to
the above Circular:-

(a) Minimum speeds required for speed test on Electric & Electronic Typewriters

Post Typing Speed

English

Stenographer Gr.II - 40
Stenographer Gr.I - 45
Staff Assistant (Stenography) - 50

Typist Grade III - 40
Typist Grade II - 45
Typist Grade I - 50
Staff Assistant (Typing) - 55

(b) The amended speed limits will be applicable only to the employees who are in service as at 31st May, 2006.

(c) The employees recruited on or after 01st June, 2006 are not allowed to use Electric/Electronic Type Writers for the speed test
and they should satisfy minimum speeds required for speed test on Computers stipulated in Commission Circular No.873.

(d) To provide a printed passage for a speed test instead of providing a hand written document.

3. The above amendments are effective from 01.01. 2006.
