PAYMENT OF COST OF LIVING ALLOWANCE TO UNIVERSITY STAFF
Your attention is invited to Establishments Circular Letter No.02/2008 dated 29th January, 2008, based on Management Services Circular No.29(iii) dated 23.01.2008 on the above subject.
2. On the basis of Management Services Circular No. 29(IV) of 18/7/2008 addressed to all Secretaries of Ministries, Chairmen of State Corporations, Statutory Boards and fully Owned Government Companies by the Secretary to the Treasury and Ministry of Finance and Planning, the monthly cost of living allowance of Rs. 2,875/- currently being paid to University Staff is revised as follows;
(a) The cost of living allowance of Rs.2,500/- paid up to 30.06. 2008 to those employees who are drawing an initial monthly salary less than Rs.25,640/- p.m. in terms of Commission Circular No.879 as amended, be increased to Rs.3,500/- effective from 01/07/2008 and
(b) To pay a monthly allowance of Rs.2,875/- effective from 01/07/2008 to those employees whose initial monthly salary is above Rs.25,640/-
(c) Daily paid employees may be paid this allowance at the rate of Rs..116.66 per day up to a maximum of Rs.3,500/- per month for the service rendered, with effect from 01/07/2008.
