TRANSPORT FACILITIES FOR STAFF OF UNIVERSITIES
In addition to the officers who are permitted the use of official vehicles for transport between the residence and place of work, the Ministry of Policy Planning & Implementation has agreed with the recommendation of the UGC to extend this facility to the other categories of officers stipulated in Section 33 of the Universities Act No.16 of 1978 amended by Universities (Amendment) Act No.7 of 1985, ie: Librarians, Bursars and holders of any other posts declared by Ordinance to be a post, the holder of which, offices for the purpose of Section 33 of the Act .
Your kind attention is invited in this connection to Ministry of Policy Planning Circular No.7/90 dated 24th September 1990 where it is indicated that the vehicles are permitted to one round trip per day only if the distance one way is less than 12 km.
Permission to use official vehicles as provided in the Circular is subject to the availability of vehicles and does not allow for the purchase of new vehicles to enable this concession to be extended.
Please note that the above facility has been granted subject to the provisions stipulated in the Public Administration Circular No. 264 dated 15th August 1984, No. 6/88 dated 11 th February 1988 and Ministry of Policy Planning Circular No. 7/90 dated 24th September 1990.
The provisions of this Circular are effective from 15th June 1992.
