REVISION OF ANNUAL INCOME CEILING FOR PAYMENT OF BURSARIES
Your reference is invited to Commission Circular No.856 dated 31st January 2005.
The University Grants Commission at its 763rd meeting held on 04th September, 2008, decided to revise the parental income ceiling applicable in the selection of students eligible for bursaries. Accordingly, paragraph 3.3, 3.4 and 4(a) of the above
circular will be revised as follows.
3.3 Parental Income Ceiling
Parental annual income should be equal to or less than Rs. 300,000/-
(a) Rs. 24,000/- concession per annum per school going sister/brother who is 18 years or under, up to a maximum of three children.
(b) Rs. 36,000/- concession per annum per sister/brother following a course in a University but not in receipt of a Mahapola scholarship or a Bursary.
4. (a) The marking scheme prescribed for the annual parental income of students eligible to receive financial assistance.

Rs. 00 to Rs.120, 000 | 60 |
Rs.120, 001 to Rs.180, 000 | 30 |
Rs.180, 001 to Rs.240, 000 | 10 |
Rs.240, 001 to Rs.300, 000 | 05 |
This revised scheme will come into operation with effect from 01st October, 2008.
