PARENTAL INCOME CEILING TO THE PAYMENT OF BURSARIES.

This Circular has been rescinded by Circular No : 613

Your reference is invited to Commission Circular No.504 dated 02nd January 1992.

Considering the recommendations of the Committee appointed to look into the possibility of introducing a new quota of Mahapola Scholarships/Bursaries for students whose parents are attached to the Public Sector/Corporations/Statutory Bodies, the UGC has decided to grant a concession to parents who have three or more children in a University/Affiliated University College/Higher Educational Institutes.

Circular No.504 is therefore amended with the addition of following paragraph.

" If a family has three or more children in any University or Higher Educational Institution, the third child and above should be considered for the receipt of Mahapola/Bursary irrespective of the income level of the parent."

This will come into operation with effect from 1st June, 1993.
