SCHEMES OF RECRUITMENT FOR THE POSTS OF KARYALA KARYA SAHAYAKE (K KS) AND LABOURER SPECIAL GRADE

Your kind attention is invited to my letter No.UGC/HR/2/3/21 dated 27th July 1998 on the schemes of recruitment for the posts of Labourer Gr.III, Gr.II, Gr.I, Special Grade and Karyala Karya Sahayake (KKS).



The University Grants Commission at its meeting held on 03.04.2001 has decided to amend the existing schemes of recruitment for the posts of KKS and Labourer, Special Grade as indicated in the annexed schedule. The amended schemes of recruitment for the posts of KKS and Labourer, Special Grade are effective from 01.01.2000 and 01.07.2001 respectively.



In terms of amended Scheme of Recruitment, the period of service in Special Grade required for promotion to the post of KKS carrying A-10 salary scale is 05 years. Therefore, those who were appointed to the post of KKS on completion of one (01) year in the post of Labourer Special Grade in terms of the existed Scheme of Recruitment should be placed on A-10 salary scale on completion of 04 years of service in the post of KKS following the provisions applicable for conversion of salary on promotion.

POST AND SALARY CODE METHOD OF RECRUITMENT QUALIFICATION
KKS A-10 By advertisement within the instition concerned.

Selection by promotion.
A labourer in special grade with (05) five years satisfactory service in that grade will be eligible for consideration for appointment to the post of KKS.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE APPLICABLE TO THE POST OF kks

(I) The number of post approved by the governing authority of the Higher Educational Institute concerned will be filled.

(II) Where the number of posts available for appointment as KKS is limited, selection should be made by a written test an interview.

(III) When a KKS is appointed all the task and responsibilities currenly being performed by an office labourer will continue to be performed by the KKS. Any extra duties may also be given to him.

(IV) A clear list of duties should be given to each KKS so that he is aware of his tasks, responsibilities and norms.

Labourer, Special Grade A-11 By promotion

Selection by interview
(a) A labourer , Grade I who has completed seven (07) years satisfactory service in grade I

OR

(b)A health Service Labourer (Higher Grade) who has completed seven(07) years service in the higher grade.

May be considered for promotion.
